Courses  Conducted

The child population forms about 40% of the population of our country.  Well planned and organized services will offer each child an opportunity to attain the maximum physical & mental growth, development and well being.
As the health care needs of child population are considered most important, comprehensive health care programs are carried out. In the view of magnitude of the population and its heterogeneity  towards imbalance, economic conditions, secularism and wide spread ignorance of the fundamentals of health and dental health education, a well organized and well coordinated  efforts of  health activities and an intensive campaign for dental health education are the main objectives of this department.

    PREVENTIVE

    ·         Topical fluoride application

    ·         Pit and fissure sealant

    ·         Diet and  nutritional councelling

    ·         Awareness of oral habits

    ·         A significant portion of dental and oral disease is preventable Oral diseases and conditions can occur beginning at birth and resulting in infection, Tooth loss and other problems for the child oral examination, Preventive education and early therapeutics given in this department, enhance the opportunity for every child to have optimum health.

    CURATIVE

    Restorations

    ·         Glass –Ionomer , Resin modified Glass Ionomer, Compomer, Composite resin, Amalgam restorations, Inlays, Preformed esthetic crowns for anterior teeth, Stainess steel crowns.

    ·         Pulpotomy, Pulpectomy, RCT Apexogenisis, Apexification.

    ·         Post and core restoration, cast- crowns

    MINOR SURGICAL PROCEDURES

    ·         Extraction of unreasonable carious and over retained deciduous teeth.

    ·         Perio - radiculer surgery

    ·         Dis - impaction of impacted teeth and super numeraries.

    ·         Re-implantation of teeth.

    Management of Malocclusion.

    ·         Space maintainers and space regainers.

    ·         Management of Deleterious Habits.

     Cleft lip Cleft palate patients Dental management with obturators and Pre –maxillary restoration.

    RESEARCH  FACILITIES

       Improved at the availed from the institution, K.L.E.S. Hospital, Pharmacy college, Engineering  College for time to time.

    Laboratory Facility

       Department of Physiology and Biochemistry ( J. N. M. C )   helps in the basic research facilities such as using  animal house, pH meters ( Pharmacy College ) and other Biochemical  equipments ( Thermo cycle  unit )

       Department of Microbiology and Pathology  ( J. N. M. C ) Helps in the basic tests to be carried out for Dental caries and periodontal diseases.

    K.L.E.S’S. s Engineering college  helps to evaluate basic rheological properties of Dental material e. g. shear bond strength of restorative Glass Inomer cement.

     STATISTICAL

                  Stastical  helps for various research activities  being taken from the  department of statistic

      J.N.M.C. Belgaum.

    Department is equipped with the following  audio visual aids for patient conditioning and behavior management:

Achievements

 
  1. PGs attended Vth Scientific convention at Belgaum and won 1st prize for the poster presentation, 2001.

  2. PGS & Staff Attended various Dental checkup camps and treated patients at Devalapur, Amatur, Chachadi, and G A High-school Belgaum. Govt. Primary School at Belgaum, saundatti , Bailhongal and Agasgi.

  3. DR. Gopika.Chaturvedy PG presented the scientific paper “ Nursing caries and won the best paper award , in VIith scientific convention Belgaum, Feb 2002.

  4. Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry organized Children’s day celebration week  from 14  to 19 November 2003. The program included dental health education exhibition , school dental treatment camp at vantamuri colony Belgaum. Essay and color filling competition. Dr. praveen Mandroli &  Dr. Supriya Nerli  Were the co-ordinators for the  programs.

  5. Department organized X Scientific Convention on 24/09/2007& 24/08/2007

  6. Dr Shivayogi Hugar Lecturer Given Guest lecturer on Prevention of diseases in Rural India in National Doordarshan channel in 2000.

  7.  Dr. Indushekar K.R.  Professor Appointed as General secretary for ISPPD 2006-08

  8. Dr. Indushekar K.R.  Professor Awarded the star Pedodontist 2006 award for excellence in the area of Pedodontic Dentistry

  9. Dr. Indushekar K.R.  Professor Winner of 1995 Ratan Memorial Award, second at National level for active participation in the various field of dentistry and serving the dental society.

  10. Dr. Indushekar K.R.  Professor Second best scientific paper award at 26th State Dental Conference. 1997

  11. Dr. Indushekar K.R.  Professor First scientific paper award at 28th State Dental Conference. 1999.

  12. Dr. Indushekar K.R.  Professor Recipient of Dr U S Krishna Nayak Rolling Trophy award for all round student activities. 1999
