History of the Department

The
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery which has a
host of trained Professionals, renders all varieties of
surgical treatments ranging for acquired, congenital,
traumatic and developmental diseases of the jaws and
face to simple extraction of teeth. The quality and
promptness of treatment has not only created an impact
on the population of Belgaum City but also of the
surrounding rural and urban areas. The possession of
highly sophisticated and computerised surgical
equipments has helped in changing the outlook of many
patients with various facial defects. For the treatment
of patients and for imparting proper clinical training
to students, Operation theatres with proper facilities
and indoor admissions, the department is attached to
K.L.E. Dr. Prabhakar Kore. Hospital and Medical Research
Center. Faciomaxillary and Oral Surgery is a recognized
speciality of the Medical and Dental profession,
encompassing the surgical and related treatment of
diseases, injuries and deformities involving both the
functional and esthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, gum
and jaws. Our students have undergone additional
training in specialty units in India and abroad. The
Department conducts an active postgraduate programme and
is a major partner in the KLES-SMILE TRAIN USA cleft
surgery project. The department strives for academic
excellence by active association with various National
and International organizations and through the guidance
of highly qualified staff with vast and varied
experience in the reputed institution of the country |
