Introduction :
In the Department of Conservative Dentistry &
Endodontics we diagnose and treat defects of teeth that
do not require full coverage restorations for
correction, resulting in a restoration offering proper
tooth form, function and esthetics, enhancing the
general health and welfare of the patient.
“Increasing the life span of teeth by prevention and
restoration” is the main motto of the
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics.
The Department has been functioning since the inception
of this prestigious institution in 1985 under Karnataka
University and was recognized by Dental Council of India
and Govt. of India in 1989. Postgraduate training
programme was started in 1991 and recognized in 1994 for
02 Post Graduate Students. From academic year 1996-97
the department started functioning under Rajiv Gandhi
University. From the year 2006 our college acquired
deemed status with 5 postgraduates for every academic
year. We have commenced a certificate course on
“Excellence in Esthetics” from 2007 academic
year.
This department is the largest of all departments and
second highest in financial contribution. It
possesses a undergraduate (35-Chairs) and a
postgraduate (15-chairs) clinic with a
separate surgical clinic and a seminar hall. It
has a pre-clinical lab with 70 training units with
phantom heads. A laboratory equipped to cater to metal
and ceramic restorations.
The Department is equipped with Radio Visio Graphy (RVG),
X-ray unit, Intra-Oral camera, surgical microscope.
Modern equipments like Root Auto ZX, Raypex5, Obtura II,
Guttaflow, Plasma LED, Spartan kit, Resilon epiphany are
only a few to name.
Teaching material consists of books, journals, library
dissertation, dissertations and online information.
Computers, LCD Projector, Scanner and Printer include
the facilities available.
Department boasts of eminent, dedicated and
competent teachers carrying out education, treatment
programmes and are offen invited as a resource person at
state, National and International symposiums.
The staff and students participate in research work,
seminars, workshop and local, state, national and
International conferences. We have a number of
publications to our credit.
The overall efficiency of the department is reflected in
annual undergraduate and Postgraduate success rates as
it is never below 75%. |
