BACHELOR OF DENTAL SURGERY (B.D.S.)

AFFILIATION :
Institute of Dental Sciences, Belgaum is affiliated to K.L.E University, Belgaum and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore (batches prior to 2006) and the teaching program is in accordance with the prescription of the Dental Council of India, New Delhi. 

DURATION OF THE COURSE:
The duration of the course is of 4 academic starting Aug/Sept) years followed by one-year compulsory rotating internship (Residency).

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
The candidate seeking admission to B.D.S. course must fulfill the following conditions of eligibility.

  1. The Candidate should have completed 17 years of age, at the time of admission/or by 31st December of the year of admission.
  2. i) The Candidate shall have passed the second year P.U.C. Examination conducted by the P.U.C. Board, Karnataka State with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects or any other examination recognized as equivalent by KLE University.
    ii) The First year of the three-year degree course of a recognized University Physics, Chemistry, and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination in a ‘University Examination.

ELIGIBILITY FOR OTHER THAN KARNATAKA STATE STUDENTS:
The Candidates who come from outside, must approach the Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore with following documents, for obtaining eligibility certificate for the B.D.S/M.D.S. Course.
  1. Photostat copies of Marks cards of the qualifying examination.
  2. Date of Birth certificate as recorded in the school/college.
  3. The Demand Draft of Rs.1000/- in the name of finance officer, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore being the fees for issue of eligibility certificate.

ELIGIBILTY FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS :
Foreign/Non-Resident Indians, Who have passed 10+2 qualifying Examination with science subjects i.e. physics, chemistry & Biology and who have not obtained less than 50% marks in aggregate at the above mentioned science subjects with English as compulsory subject, and whose qualification examination/Board/Universities are approved by the “Association of Indian Universities”, are required to apply for Eligibility Certificate on plain paper addressed to Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Jaynagar General Hospital complex, 4 th “T” Block Jaynagar, Bangalore-560 041 Karnataka- India, along with the following Documents.

  1. A Demand draft for 500 US Dollars or Equivalent Indian rupees in the Name of Finance
    Officer Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Banglore being the fees for issue of eligibility certificate. The Non-Karnataka & Foreign Student will have to produce eligibility Certificate at the time of seeking admission to 1 st B.D.S./M.D.S. Course. Foreign students are required to get clearance and permission from the ministry of Health & family welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi , before taking admission.
