Certificate Course in Excellence in Esthetics

 

PREAMBLE :
Esthetic dentistry is a prime part of clinical practice today. “ Excellence in Esthetics ” aims to educate the fundamentals of esthetics and its implications in clinical practice. The participants will learn different facets of dental esthetics, through illustrated lectures, discussions, video presentations and hands on exercise.

OBJECTIVES :

Exposure to leaders in this field and their respective cases will provide unique insights into various methods, materials, preparations, and placements, while adhering to the  philosophy of conservative esthetic dentistry.

DURATION OF COURSE :  
6 months. Six modules – three days in a month

ELIGIBILITY :
B.D.S. degree recognized by DCI.
M.D.S. degree recognized by DCI.
Private practitioners with B.D.S. / M.D.S. degree.

COURSE CONTENTS

Module I (28/03/2008 to 30/03/2008)

  • Introduction.

  • Fundamentals in esthetics

  • Smile analysis

  • Smile design - Case analysis

  • Color science and shade matching, lab communication.

  • Occlusal considerations in esthetic dentistry.

 

Module II (25/04/2008 to 28/04/2008)

  • Photography in esthetic dentistry

  • Sterilization and disinfection

  • Isolation

  • Tissue management including demo and hands on

  • Impression making (materials and techniques) including demo and hands on

 

Module III (23/05/2008 to 25/05/2008)

Composites

  • Composite material and bonding

  • Mid line diastema closure

  • Class II, III , IV, V  restorations

  • Direct composite veneers

  • Demo and hands on

Module IV (27/06/2008 to 29/06/2008)

  • Management of discolored teeth   including demo.

  • Glass ionomer cements.

  • Minimal intervention  in esthetic dentistry.

  • Management of wasting diseases.

Module V (25/07/2008 to 27/07/2008)

Ceramics

  • Material and advances

  • Full crowns ( PFM, Full ceramic )

  • Veneers

  • Repair of ceramic restorations

  • Demo and hands on

Tooth ornamentation  including demo

Module VI (29/08/2008 to 31/08/2008)

  • Exams – theory and practical

  • Announcement of results

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Theory : 100 Marks (3 Hours)

Type of question papers :
Long Essays           :  02 X 20 = 40 Marks
Short Essays           : 06 X 10 = 60 Marks          

Practical  :       75 Marks    
Viva voce :       25 Marks

Course fee   :    Rs. 44,500 /-

Timings        :    9 am – 5 pm
Certification :    All participants will receive course certificate
