DENTAL HYGIENIST CUM CHAIRSIDE ASSISTANT COURSE |

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION :
Pass in PUC II or Equivalent Exam with a minimum of 40% marks in optional subjects under Science Faculty only such as PCB, PCMB,CBZ. However the minimum percentage or marks required can be relaxed to 35% in case of SC / ST students.
AGE LIMIT:
The candidate should have attained minimum age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission. Upper age limit is 40 yrs for in service and for SC / ST candidates; while the upper age limit for others is 35 years.
DURATION OF THE COURSE:
Two years from the commencement of the term that is from 1st January, every year.
INTRODUCTION :
A Dental Hygienist cum Chair side Assistant is a person, not being a Dentist or Medical Practitioner; who does Oral Prophylaxis, gives instructions in Oral hygiene and Preventive Dentistry, assists the dental surgeon in chair side work and manages the office. He / She shall work under the supervision of the Dental Surgeon.

PRELIMINARY
General Anatomy and Histology |
- General structure of mucous membrane, bones, muscles, blood vessels, lymphatics, glands and nerves. Blood and nerve supply in relation to face in general and teeth associated structures in particular.
- Elementary knowledge of development of the face and jaws.
- Muscles of mastication and facial expression.
- Tempro- Mandibular joint.
- Course and distribution of V, VII, and IX cranial nerves.
- Dental anatomy and histology – structure, nomenclature and development of human teeth, eruption and occlusion of teeth, periodontium- structure and function .

- Demonstration in dissected body.
- Osteology of head and neck in general and face in particular.
- Morphology of teeth.
- Alveolar process of jaw bones
- Study of prepared histological slides of oral and Para oral tissues

- General outlines of the physiological process of the human body.
- General outline of CVS, CNS and endocrine glands. Special scenes
- Salivary glands, ducts and their functions.
- Composition, function of saliva.
- Mastication, deglutition and phonation,
- Blood – structure – function – clotting mechanism.

- Hb, RBC , WBC, DC, BT, CT, blood grouping BP recording ,Pulse.
- Routine blood and urine examination.
